Film Synopsis

Ummattat' is a vibrant folk dance performed exclusively by women of the Kodava community in Karnataka's Coorg region. Rooted in devotion to the river goddess Kaveri, it is performed during the festival of Kaveri Sankramana, with dancers in traditional attire moving in slow, rhythmic circles to the beat of cymbals and devotional song. One dancer carries a brass kalasha on her head, symbolising the goddess. The film presents this as a living expression of Kodava identity and feminine spirituality.
