Film Synopsis

Fifty-eight-year-old hairdresser Melanie drives her son Stefan, a young author, to the first reading of his autobiographical debut novel 'Der Salon'. As Stefan becomes consumed by questions of class, upward mobility, and identity, Melanie grows quietly unsettled. She struggles to recognise who her son is becoming and to hold her own in an environment that seems entirely foreign to the world she knows.
