Film Synopsis

The film decodes the Ashta-Nayika - the eight archetypal heroines first described in the Natya Shastra, tracing their presence across Indian classical dance, miniature painting, sculpture, music, folk traditions, and film songs. Through expert interviews and curated performances, it explores how these eight emotional archetypes have functioned as a codified vocabulary for expressing human experience across artistic traditions, and examines their continued relevance in contemporary contexts.
