Filmed over several years, 'Ramaleelas of Odisha' is an ethnographic documentary mapping the rich diversity of the Ramaleela performing tradition across Odisha's towns and villages. A beloved lyrical theatre form performed each summer, its aesthetics evolve from one community to the next. The film examines what sustains this living tradition, an annual ritual that keeps collective memory alive for performers and patrons while fulfilling the spiritual yearning of its audiences.
