Film Synopsis

'Majuli' examines the slow disappearance of the world's largest inhabited river island, situated in Assam at the confluence of the Brahmaputra and Subansiri rivers. Home to over 150,000 people who depend largely on agriculture, Majuli is shrinking rapidly due to severe soil erosion from annual floods. The film explores the threat to the island's agricultural life, Vaishnav culture, mask-making, and pottery traditions.
