The Co-Production Market Documentary is a dedicated vertical designed to foster meaningful collaborations between filmmakers with distinctive documentary and animation projects and key global industry stakeholders, including producers, content buyers, platforms, sales agents and financiers.
Positioned as a dynamic networking and business platform, it enables creators to connect with potential partners for commissioning, financing, and co-production opportunities. The market aims to bridge creative vision with industry support, ensuring that powerful documentary stories find the resources and partnerships they need to reach wider audiences.
At its core, the Co-Production Market seeks to facilitate and encourage the development of authentic, compelling narratives by providing access to international opportunities and industry expertise, ultimately amplifying stories with global relevance and impact.

Before You Submit

Before you begin, please read the Rules | Regulations for guidelines on filling the online Application Form as well as Submission of Materials. Please also read the Undertaking which has to be submitted along with the application for it to be considered complete. For any further queries, please read the FAQs.

  • Only Documentary and Animation projects with South Asian themes are eligible. Otherwise, the filmmaker or at least one of the co-producers must be from India / South Asia.
  • The Co-Production Market Documentary is open to projects that are of mid-length and feature length. Projects under 30 minutes are currently not accepted for this edition.
  • The Co-Production Market Documentary is only eligible to projects having a producer attached and at least 15% of the financing in place.
  • Selected projects will be notified over email.
  • Project must have both director and producer attached.
  • Projects that have started principal photography are not eligible. Only the projects that are in the developing stage are eligible.

The application process is completely online. Email/hardcopy applications will not be accepted.

  • The applicant must be either the producer or the director of the project. Applications from any other person will be disqualified.
  • To apply, you must first create a MyMIFF Account if you do not already have one

  • Applications are considered complete only after fee payment.

  • Selected filmmakers must share video pitches of their projects for the Open Pitch at the Waves Doc Bazaar 2026
  • To ensure the video pitches meet our technical requirements, the team needs them tentatively a week before the Waves Doc Bazaar. Participants will be provided with creative and technical support to create refined video pitches.
  • It is also mandatory for the selected applicants to submit the Pitch Deck before the Bazaar dates, as per the deadline provided by the team.
  • Regular Deadline for applications is April 30, 2026 (11:59 pm IST).
  • Extended Deadline for applications is May 8, 2026 (11:59 pm IST).

Application fees for Fiction Films

  • INR 5000 for applications submitted on or before the Regular Deadline - April 30, 2026 (11:59 PM IST).
  • INR 5000 for applications submitted on or before the Extended Deadline - May 8, 2026 (11:59 PM IST).
  • The application fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee.
