About MIFF

Started in 1990, the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) is the oldest and largest film festival for non-feature films in South Asia. Organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, MIFF has evolved into a significant global platform for documentary, short fiction and animation films. Since its inception, MIFF has expanded in scope and scale, drawing filmmakers, cineastes and professionals from across the world.

MIFF transcends borders, attracting entries from a vast array of countries, languages, and artistic styles. This creates a unique space for filmmakers and film enthusiasts to come together, share diverse perspectives, and explore exciting collaborative opportunities. It’s a melting pot of creativity, fostering dialogue and exchange of ideas that fuel innovation within the filmmaking community.

The 19th Mumbai International Film Festival will feature the Grand Opening and Closing Ceremonies. International and Indian Competitions comprising the Prestigious Golden and Silver Conch Awards and Cash Prizes worth Rs 55 Lakhs, including V. Shantaram Life Time Achievement Award, Pramod Pati– Most Innovative/Experimental Film Award, Awards for Technical Excellence, Best Student Film Award and another for Best Debut Director Award. Non-competition Sections including Prism - A selection of top-class, path-breaking films from India and across the world, Special Curated Sections – Internationally acclaimed/ award -winning films, Independent Films, Country Focus Films, Restored Classics, Wildlife Films, Student Films, New Media and AI Films, and many more MIFF 2026 events will also comprise Gala Screenings, Red Carpets, Masterclasses, Panel Discussions, and Waves Doc Bazaar.

MiFF Awards

Dr. V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award

Given at MIFF, honouring a filmmaker for significant contributions to Indian documentary films. It includes Rs 10 lakhs, a trophy, and a citation, commemorating filmmaker V Shantaram's legacy.

Golden Conch for Best International Documentary Film

This coveted award, accompanied by a cash prize of ₹10 lakhs (Ten Lakhs Indian Rupees), honours the most remarkable documentary film in the International Competition Section.

Silver Conch for Best National Documentary Film

This coveted award, accompanied by a cash prize of ₹5 lakhs (Five Lakhs Indian Rupees), honours the most remarkable documentary film in the National Competition Section.

Pramod Pati Award for Most Innovative/Experimental Film

This special jury award, carrying a trophy and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh (One Lakh Indian Rupees), acknowledges groundbreaking and daring filmmaking within the International Competition section.
